Snapathon #8 | The Winners revealed!

Here are the results for the Snapathon #8 held on 24th February 2019.

2019 Snapathon was a spectacular success with more than 20 people snapping away all over Semaphore. The day was sunny and perfect. The themes were a bit tricky but everyone grabbed great shots and entered them into the competition. The photos were judged by Carolyn Elcock ANPSNZ AFIAP, who was mightily impressed by the quality and the creativity of the photos. Thanks to everyone who put this event together - the PACC is a great club, full of enthusiastic and friendly people. I hope everyone had a fun day out and are looking forward to the next club outing and 2020 Snapathon - Paula McManus.
All of the entries received were shown at our club rooms on Tuesday, 5th March and Top images received a prize and Runner-up images received a Merit Card.

February Competition Results - Landscape/Seascape Trophy & Open

Here are the competition results for our February 2019 competition.

The subjects were 'Landscape/Seascape' and 'Open'. In total, we received 130 entries (98 PDI & 32 Prints). Our judge for the night was Keith Seidel, who gave insightful comments & critique on the images presented. Keith was most impressed with our PDI Landscape/Seascape entries, so much so, he awarded 3 images with a score of 10, and then had the difficult task of choosing 1st, 2nd & 3rd.

The number of entries this competition was higher than our first competition for 2018 and may I say, it was wonderful to see so many prints on display!

Images gaining places are showcased below.

Congratulations to Janet Harbottle & Kim Petersen on winning the Landscape/Seascape Trophy (which will be presented at the Annual Trophy Presentation Night at the end of the year).

Subject: Landscape/Seascape

2nd - Print - Cathy Cates - 'Rocky Beach '

3rd - Print - Joylene Lee-Archer - 'Incoming Tide '

2nd - PDI - Kim Petersen - 'Iceberg Graveyard '

3rd - PDI - John Baker - 'Sunburnt Country '

Get ready, get set, go!

...... and we're off and running for 2019

We started the year with a special 'Member's Only' workshop, which was a nice relaxed informal start to the club year.  14 members attended and enjoyed a chat, and a coffee or two.  Many thanks to David Sandison for hosting - stay tuned for news on possible future dates!

Many thanks to Joy & Rob for supplying photos.

Our first club night for 2019 was a great success with approximately 40 in attendance, and we start the year with 9 brand new members!

Lou Marafioti gave a wonderful presentation and everyone was most inspired!

We have our first competition night coming up next Tuesday, 19th February 2019.  A reminder for members that cut-off is midnight this coming Saturday, 16th February 2019.

I would also like to take this opportunity to remind everyone about our Annual Snapathon - this year will be #8.  Each year, our member Paula McManus co-ordinates this event - it is a bit like a scavenger hunt, but with cameras!  It is usually a whole lot of fun, and last year, we opened it up to the public ..... and had a great turn out.

This year, our Snapathon will be held on Sunday, 24th February 2019, in the beautiful suburb of Semaphore and starts at 9.45 am.  Please see our Facebook Event for further details.

And ofcourse, the 5th March 2019 is when we will be showcasing the winners of the Snapathon as well as having a presentation from our longstanding member, Helen Lewis on Animal Photography & a Safari Adventure.

Lots of exciting things in the pipeline for our club.

In the meantime, if you have been thinking about joining our club, 2019 Memberships are now open (see link 'Join our Club').  Becoming a member of PACC, gives you access to “In Focus” our private Facebook group exclusively for members only.  Within that group you can ask questions, share ideas and generally get to know the other members.  We also send out regular updates via email, so if you miss a few club nights, you will not miss out on important information.

Well, that's it from me for now.  I'll be back again after our competition night, with some great winning images from our members.

Cheers

Volunteer Photography at SA Sidewinders Under 16 Speedway

Adam Possingham, the President of the Sidewinders Under Sixteen Speedway Club recently approached our club to see if anyone would be interested in photographing the Junior racing nights.  5 of our members responded, and they attended on Friday, 11th January 2019.    Here are some of their shots!
