2018 Trophy Presentation Night

Our 2018 Trophy Presentation Night was a great night - it was so nice to be able to spend some social time with members and their partners!

Whilst the winners of the Set Subjects trophies were known, there were some surprises in relation to the recipients for the Gold & Silver Aggregate Trophies, the New Member Encouragement Award and the President's Award.  I must confess, that those are the moments I enjoy most .... revealing the winners of the Aggregate Trophies and the Club Awards.

The Committee would like to thank all of the PACC members for a great year – your support of the club by participating in the monthly competitions and attending club meetings & outings is most appreciated.  We look forward to seeing you at the club rooms on 5th February 2019.

In the meantime, Club outings will still continue through December and January - members are reminded to keep a look out on In Focus for exciting bits of news and information and possibly the occasional impromptu outing or two.

2019 Membership forms are now available via InFocus in the ‘files’ section (or via the link at the end of this Newsletter).  Don’t forget, we need a new membership form filled out each year, and if you wish to compete in the first competition of the year, your membership fees must be paid no later than 16th February 2019.

The Club Calendar, Competition Rules & Subject Definitions are currently being updated by the Committee and will be forwarded to members as soon as they are available.

Don't forget to visit our Facebook Page Photo albums to see images from the various club outings we have had during the year, and please leave a comment  on any of our members' award winning images  .... I am sure the author would love to hear from you!

Looking forward to seeing what next year brings!

PACC Photograph of the Year Results

In our final competition for the year, 159 entries were judged by our 3 judges - Susie Lipert, Helen Whitford & Chris Carter. All 3 judges mentioned that they thought our images were of a very high standard, and there were quite a few discussions when determining the merits.

The judges gave some excellent commentary on the top images selected.

POTY Winners, Runners-up & Merits are showcased below.

Congratulations to all of our club members on providing such a great year of competition.

If you have ever wondered what happens on a judging night, here is a photograph, taken by one of our committee members, Georgios Tsiminis

As the PACC Calendar draws to a close, we have our AGM on 20th November 2018 and then we can look forward to a bit of celebration at our Trophy Presentation Night on 4th December.

Club outings will still continue through December and January - members are reminded to keep a look out on In Focus for some exciting bits of news and information.

Please feel free to visit our Facebook Page Photo albums to see more images that have gained Merits during the year, and if you like, please leave a comment .... I am sure the author would love to hear from you!

I would like to say a huge Thank You to our Competition Secretary & President, Colin J Pearce, for running the competitions each month, and getting the results out to members & placing the winning images on Facebook throughout the year. A big thank you to Joylene Lee-Archer as well for organising the judges throughout the year.

Thanks also go to all the other committee members for their tireless assistance on competition nights - without them, the night would not go as smoothly as it does.

And lastly, thank you to our members for entering our monthly competitions.
Looking forward to seeing what next year brings!

Cheers, Cathy Cates

The day we went to Victor ....

....we had a lovely time!

Our October Club outing was a most enjoyable day out in Victor Harbor.

A total of 15 club members & family congregated near The Causeway Cafe for a bit of coffee to fuel up for our day out!

It was a little chilly and gloomy to start with, but the weather was kind and it didn't rain.

We had some keywords to help with inspiration for taking photos - 'Red', 'Rocks' & 'Round'

Here are a few images from the day.

We had some late lunch at Hotel Crown Victor Harbor and spent an hour or so just sitting & chatting all things photography!  Good food, good company ..... what more could you ask for!

Our next outing will be on 25th November 2018 to the Semaphore Street Fair - now that should be very interesting and have some great photo opportunities.

Please see our Facebook Events Page for further details.

Adelaide Zombie Walk - October 2018

Regular readers of this website may remember that a number of our members freely give their time and skills every year at the Adelaide Zombie Walk.

2018 Zombie Shooters
If you have ever attended this walk, you will know that people go to a lot of effort with their costumes and make-up, and it's all for a good cause:  raising funds for and awareness of Foodbank SA

So, do yourself a favour, and visit the Adelaide Zombie Walk Facebook page and check out the 100s of images taken by our intrepid volunteers.

If you have never attended this walk, then keep a look out for when they announce the 2019 walk - it is usually held in October each year - and mark it in your calendar: it is one not to be missed!

Creative & Open - Competition Results October 2018

In our final monthly competition for the year, the subjects were 'Creative' and 'Open'. In total, we received 70 entries from 18 members. Our judge for the night was Robert Dettman, who made mention when judging 'creative' images there are two aspects - one aspect is the creative processing and the other is where one has a 'creative idea' and goes about composing an image. Robert commented he was very impressed with our Creative images - so much so that in the PDI section he gave 3 images a score of 10 and then had the difficult task of choosing 1st, 2nd & 3rd; there were a further 6 images with a score of 9 which were awarded Merits! In the Print section 2 images received a score of 10, which meant another difficult task to decide 1st & 2nd.

Enjoy our award winning images below
