a weekend away in Laura

The PACC picked Laura as the destination for a weekend away this year (5th/6th/7th May 2017).

The majority of the members stayed in the Laura Community Caravan Park and let me say, we were all very impressed with the staff and facilities in the park!

Most of our club members arrived on the Friday and of course we took the opportunity to support the local pub - North Laura Hotel - for our evening meal.  Great food, great company and great service with a smile :)

On Saturday morning, we visited the Gladstone Goal.   It was a very interesting place and the perfect opportunity for members to try new things with their camera.  Below is Vice President Joy helping one of our members, Liz McKee, with some settings on her camera.

Ofcourse, we couldn't let the stocks out the front sit idle - here are our naughty members Helen Lewis & Paula McManus.  Well, they are not really naughty, but they hammed it up for the camera!

Members were free to explore the surrounding area of Laura, before gathering once again at the caravan park for a BBQ.

The BBQ kitchen and campfire area of the Laura Community Caravan Park was well utilised on the Saturday night with our members filling up the table, enjoying a sausage sizzle beautifully cooked by our Treasurer, David Sandison.

I am sure everyone had a great time in Laura, I know I did.

I would like to close with thanks to several members of our club.  I would sincerely like to thank Paula McManus for doing some great investigative work and finding some wonderful places to photograph; special thank you's go to David Sandison for cooking the BBQ and to Vicki Easom for cutting up all of those onions; to Jack Lonie and Elizabeth Mckee for assistance with preparation; and last, but by no means least, I would like to pass on a big personal thank you to our Vice President, Joylene Lee-archer for all the running around done over the weekend.  This weekend would not have been the success it was without the hard work from you all!

Cheers from me for now, time for the committee to start thinking about where to go next year!
